It may seem ridiculous to have a least favorite law, but I’m just going to go ahead and throw it out there: the Law of Action is my least favorite law. This particular Universal Law has inspired a lot of angst, anxiety and guilt in me for the past few years. However, those woes are for another day, let’s just dive right on in to what the Law of Action is!
The Law of Action is as simple as it sounds-you have to take action in order for things to go forward in your life. If you don’t take action on your dreams, they won’t happen. Period.
The Law of Action seems so obvious, but it is often overlooked which hurts my heart. You would think that taking action on something you want would be an easy thing. That it would come naturally and that if you really, really wanted it, then absolutely nothing would stop you. That’s not the case, otherwise we would all be overjoyed and the world would be a perfect place.
When that famous book about the Law of Attraction came out, I was floored. I knew deep in my heart it was the honest truth, but because I wasn’t taking action nothing was happening. This is the biggest hurdle that stops people from manifesting what they want.
I know what you’re saying, “I take action! I’m busy all the time! I’ve spent hours grinding at work trying to make extra money and I still don’t have my dream life!” These are thoughts that go through everyone’s head when you don’t think the Law of Attraction is working for you. Take heart though, you can flip that switch.
The key is not just to take action, but to take inspired action. What’s the difference? It’s hard to tell, and it may take a bit time to figure out what inspired action looks like for you. Let me tell you though, once you get into the habit of following those inspired actions, you will start seeing all kinds of things fall into place and all kinds of signs from the Universe showing that you are on the right track.
What can inspired action look like? I’m going to be honest, in a business sense, I’m still trying to find my sweet spot with inspired action. It’s easy to fall into a trap of busyness that can hinder actual inspired action and fool one into thinking they are taking the actual aligned action that will make the heaven’s sing. When I figure it out, I’ll definitely pass on my findings.
In my personal life, I think my inspired action comes in the form of what I’ll call “inspired flashes.” For instance, if out of the blue I feel the need to reach out to a friend or acquaintance, I go ahead and do it immediately. In the past, I would over-analyze their potential reactions to my out-of-the-blue text, or question my own motives as to why I would want to reach out to them randomly-was my subconscious playing tricks on me?! However, once I just took the chance and went with it I found that I just felt more in the flow of things.
I believe the Law of Action is one of the most misunderstood laws, just because until you flex your intuitive muscle, you may be taking the wrong kinds of action-which is confusing and frustrating!
What are the best ways to make sure your actions are aligned? Or, better yet, how do you know if you’re just taking useless action?
1. Be Brave. If you feel any resistance towards taking your action, or if makes you feel sick in any way-that’s the action you should take! Now, not all aligned action will feel like this, but for the big dreams you think about at night-these are the actions you need to take. If it makes you uncomfortable, then you are growing. That’s why so many of us take the action that seems easier but isn’t aligned, even when our goal is growth. Growth is painful, scary and ugly, but if you want to manifest that big dream you gotta suck it up and go for it!
2. Find your perfect affirmation to get you over the hump. I don’t think we’ve dived too deep into affirmations, but here’s a little rundown for those unfamiliar.
Affirmations are “I am” statements that you repeat over and over to yourself to basically reprogram your brain. It really is that simple and basic and I don’t know why everyone doesn’t do them. The main pitfall is that you can really only focus on a couple of affirmations at one time, because our poor little human brains are slow and need A LOT of reprogramming.
Affirmations can be anything you want as long as you keep them positive. Don’t go around telling yourself that “I am debt free,” because your brain will focus on the word debt and send out “debt collecting” vibrations, because debt is a negative thing. Make sense? Instead, say “I am a money/wealth/love magnet.” Then stick with it until you believe it. That’s the key, you have to say it enough that your brain just says, “Oh, I get it, I am a money magnet! I’m going to start pulling it in now.” The brain is prehistoric and slow, but it can be retrained just like an eager puppy.
Remember: affirmations = good vibrations sent to the Universe = excellent things coming your way.
One more suggestion, don’t discount the small actions that you take. Even though they seem small in the grand scheme of things, growth will happen with the smallest steps. Toddler’s don’t just jump up and take off running (thank the gods) they pull up, take a small step fall down and then do it again. Remember that movie What About Bob? Do you remember the “baby steps” scene that Bill Murray nailed to perfection? Be Bob. Take those baby to push past your fear and neurosis, I promise you will feel 1000% better.
