The Law of Compensation stumped me for a long time and I think it’s because a lot of times when it’s referenced the subject of money comes up. When I found another source refer to this law as the Law of Sowing and Reaping, the heavens opened up and I suddenly understood the concept.
Why is the Law of Compensation most associated with money? I’ve no doubt it’s because when you think of the word “compensation” the first things you think of are usually: earnings, payoff, pay or any other variation of terms that are used to describe the exchange of money for goods.
I’ve found that the Law of Compensation is often bundled up in the typical manifestation package of: gratitude, vibration attraction and giving more monetarily so that the money comes right back to you.
This manifestation bundle never really sat well with me. Not because I necessarily think it’s wrong, but the Law of Compensation is so much more than that. In fact, I’d like to petition to someone to change it back to The Law of Sowing and Reaping, because even though that term sounds like it should have died in the 1920’s, it completely paints a different picture and makes this whole concept easier to understand.
The Law of Compensation broken down into simplest form is the exchange of one energy for more of the same. Here’s the kicker though: this law states that you only put in what you want to get out. The more you sow, the more you reap.
Due to the word compensation, people like to assume that it’s referring to money, but money is just energy. The Law of Compensation can be used to get more love, more good vibes, more money, etc. If everything is made up of energy (which it is, by the way) then by giving more of that energetic frequency, you can attract more of it to you. You just have to put in the effort if you want to receive more.
The first time this law made complete sense to me was when I applied it to my marriage. Periodically, through the years, my husband and I have found ourselves in a rut where we ignore each other, get crabby and just get out of sync. Typical relationship stuff, however, it was something that I took personally for way too long. That is, until I started looking at it through lens of the Law of Compensation. I knew that in order to get back in our groove, I had to be the one to put forth the effort first. I had to make sure to tell him how appreciative I was of him, be the first to initiate an impromptu hug or kiss and act towards him the way I wanted to be treated in return. So simple, and yet it’s easy to forget that we are the ones that have to power to shift our intentions and not others.
This same concept can really be applied to anything. Typically people get hung up on money, because most people have a less than stellar mindset around it. I suggest you start small with your energetic money exchange, leave a bigger tip, buy a friend a coffee out of the blue, give freely and with joy and no expectation in your heart. It sounds simple, because it is. Money wants to work with you, but it doesn’t want to hang out with someone who is always chasing it around the playground and trying to pull its pigtails.
How can you shift your energy so that you can get more of what you want?
1. Hone in on your energy. Before you can shift your energy, you have to be brutally honest with yourself and know the current energy you are putting out there. Don’t fool yourself with this one, energy doesn’t lie! You will hurt no one but yourself if you aren’t completely honest, so take a second to take a good hard look at what you really truly feel about: money, love, relationships, etc.
2. Make a list. I love a good list! Once you step back and figure out your current vibe, make a list of things that would help you shift that vibe to a higher frequency, and then sit with it. You can’t put on your list that you will tip more at Starbucks and then do it with annoyance in hopes that you will gain more money. Make a list of ways you can shift your vibes first, then sit with the feelings your list brings up. Remember, this is a process so if you really want to shift that mindset, you have to put in the work!
3. Habit stack. If you’ve never heard of habit stacking, it is a fascinating concept. In order to train your brain to form new habits, you pair them with things you already do so that you can actually remember to keep that new habit. For example, if you decide that you want to work out everyday after work, make a habit to change into your workout clothes right after you take off your shoes to. Or, when you pour your first cup of coffee, you immediately meditate afterwards.
So, to change your mindset I suggest you habit stack, with a high vibe partner. Let me give you an example of a way I have implemented this myself. When I hop on the computer to do my finances, I put on Gwen Stefani’s song “Rich Girl.” I have good associations with it (hello, Fiddler on the Roof reference!) it has a great beat and it talks about money which was just the last piece of my trifecta of good vibrations. Now when I look at my account, I’m happy and it feels like I’m playing with my money which is exactly how I want to feel!
Do you have any other suggestions on habit stacking with a high vibration partner? I’d love to hear them! Check out the links below to read about the other Universal Laws.
