The Law/Principle of Vibration
When I first began my study of the Universal Laws, the one that made the most sense to me aside from the Law of Attraction was the Law of Vibration. To me, the relationship to the science of how matter is constantly vibrating was something that I could easily visualize when I thought of the Law of Vibration.
Simply stated, the Law of Vibration proves that each and every one of us are basically towers of energy that are emitting frequencies that match our vibrational level.
What?! Let me elaborate. Imagine that each and everyone of the cells in your body are vibrating on their own individual spectrum of emotions. On the far left of your spectrum is your white- hot, black out inducing rage, or perhaps the depths of despair depression that can sometime grab ahold of us, let’s call this side the “Dark Side.” Not “dark” because these emotions are necessarily bad, because they are not, but that’s a whole different topic! We’re just going to use a temporary label to make things easier to understand. Okay, so on the right end of the spectrum is absolute joy, happiness and love, this we will call the “Light Side.”
Have that mental image in your head? Good deal. Now, imagine that each cell is moving around really quickly on their individual spectrum depending on the emotions that your brain is telling you to feel. I’m sure you can imagine that cell moving to the left and right of that spectrum at any given moment of the day.
When you combine all of the cells (which are in sync) in your body, which is controlled by your emotions, you give off a vibration that is very similar to a radio frequency. Even though this vibration is invisible (unless you happen to outwardly express every emotion you feel all the time) the frequency one gives off can sometimes be so intense that you can feel it emitting from a person.
How many times have you walked by a co-worker and you can just tell they are in a bad mood? Or what about when you walk into a room and you can feel that there was is going to be or just was a tense conversation? Even if you don’t believe that you have a sixth sense for such things, all humans can sense very profound vibrations from others.
Now you know that we are all little radio towers emitting frequencies from our internal vibrations, but so what? Here’s where it gets interesting, and a little tricky. What you now need to do is shift your vibrations towards the more positive side of the spectrum so that you can send off a higher frequency out into the Universe. Why would you bother doing this? So that you can actually use your vibrations to attract what you want instead of bringing more of what you DON’T want to you. It seems simple, and I suppose that theoretically it is. However, we all know how difficult it is to control our emotions when something or someone triggers us, which makes things a bit more complicated.
If this whole concept is completely new to you, let me give you some tricks that will help you shift those little balls of energy towards the “Light Side.”
1. Move it! Despite what you may think, the body is usually too stiff to move information through it properly, and if your body is too stiff your overall vibration can get stagnant. The best thing to do is, you guess it, move around! I know this is sometimes easier said than done when you are busy, but take a moment to move your body in a way that feels good to you. Take a quick walk around your office area, or better yet-in nature! Do a few jumping jacks or yoga poses or throw on some music and have yourself a little dance party. This will stimulate those little vibrating cells to move around in whichever direction you want them to go.
2. Listen to something upbeat. I love a good Spotify playlist and have several that range from meditation drumming (David & Steve Gordon if you’re interested), to a list of songs from superhero movies and even a playlist for belly dancing beats. Those are just if I feel the need to move my body. When I want to get into a really high vibration mindset I listen to anything I can sing my heart out to. Whatever your taste, and whatever gets you into a happy mood go for it. I will advise against anything that makes you aggressive, angry or depressed. As much as I love singing along to “Lose Yourself” from the 8 Mile soundtrack, it does put me on the defense and gets my blood boiling in a angry/motivated kind of way. Good for some occasions, but not for what we are going for right now.
3. Meditate. It doesn’t have to be the sit on the floor in a lotus position with your finger and thumb touching, but not enough can be said about the powerful experience of being present in the moment and connecting with yourself.
This used to stress me out. I used to sit on the floor and concentrate so hard on pushing the thoughts out of my head in order to clear my mind. It left me more depleted mentally and emotionally than when I started. It took me years of doing this until I realized that my thoughts were not the enemy, they were just part of me and all good.
I could go on for days about my love of meditation, but nobody wants to hear it. However, I will say this and then leave it: meditation is a practice. It’s very rare that someone can jump into something and be an expert, so dedicate just a bit of time each day to take a breath and connect with it. When I say connect with your breath, I mean inhale through your nose and feel every part of your body expand and then feel through your body when you let the air out. Stopping what you are doing three times a day, and taking three deep breaths where you feel it in your body will change you. Do not underestimate it!
The Law of Vibration is one of the Universal concepts that is easy to grasp in theory, but difficult to execute all the time. Don’t be hard on yourself. Awareness is key. What I mean is, you must have patience because vibrational shifts cannot be rushed. You must learn to be still before you can control your personal frequency.
